RSS Updates
My imported RSS feeds do not seem to be updating. I have waited the hour listed in the configuration panel and I don't see any way to manually force an update. Clicking on each feed does show the current content, but Eluma gives me no indication that there are new items in the feeds. If I have to check each feed manually for new items, that's not much better than checking the site itself.

Re: RSS Updates

Imported feeds are not "subscribed" by default.  If you click on a feed, you will see the link "keep history" in the content fly-out.  Clicking this link will subscribe you to the feed and keep a history of the articles.  Otherwise the RSS object will remain unsubscribed and only display the current articles in the feed which can be none if the feed doesnt update often.

You can force a feed to update by right-clicking on the feed in the collection tree and clicking "refresh".  You can also set Eluma to update feeds sooner than an hour in the settings dialog.

Are there certain feeds that aren't updating?  What feeds are they?

Re: RSS Updates

zkent - Thanks for the info.  That works, but I must say it's REALLY ANNOYING to now have to go back and subscribe to the 100+ feeds I imported.  If I bothered to import the feeds, you can reasonably assume I want to keep monitoring them and should subscribe me by default (perhaps with an option to not subscribe).

I also found it annoying that there seems to be no way to subscribe to more than one feed at a time.

In all honesty I really, really want to like and use Eluma, but the whole interface makes it feel like it's not quite ready yet.  This situation, along with a few other usability issues, are probably going to prevent me from using it now.

The concept is great, but it needs some more refinement.

Re: RSS Updates

We are modifying our "multi-select" options in the near future to allow you to subscribe to more than one feed at a time if you use a shift-click or control-click.

Your suggestion for automatically subscribing to feeds imported through the configuation wizard is a good one, and we'll put it on our roadmap for a future version.

We're getting lots of good suggestions from private beta users like you and we're working as quickly as we can to refine the usability so it's really easy for everyone to use.

Re: RSS Updates

Thanks for the input.  I think you are absolutely correct about importing feeds-- they should be subscribed by default.  I am passing your comments over to the beta feedback team.  Of course you can send them email directly during at beta-feedback@eluma.com

Also, we are wrapping up a much needed update to the RSS styling.  The new look features collapsed articles and a cleaner interface which makes it easier to scan articles quickly and expand each article you want to read.  The update will also feature rating, tagging, flagging, and collecting of articles right in the RSS view.  Stay tuned for that update.

Please feel free to pass along any other feedback.  Hearing from  you helps us make Eluma better.
